For Love of Learning: Reed’s Centennial Conference

In 2009, Reed held a series of special events to launch the centennial celebration.

We begin our centennial celebration with a focus on our first 25 years, from the time of Simeon Reed’s death in 1895—unveiling the will that would ultimately finance the College—to the end of William Trufant Foster’s inspired tenure as Reed’s first president, in 1920. In this first installment of an ambitious archival project covering Reed’s first century (set to launch September 2011), our focus is on the people and events that formed the core of who we are.

Come along with us: just click the “Explore” link above and we’ll spirit you back to 1895, where it all began.

Reed Stories

A centennial is the perfect time to take stock of where we’ve been and where we’re going. We’ve built a special Reed Stories website to do just that, collecting and presenting Reedies’ recollections over the last century.
